How Rentally works
Your ally in every rental relationship: one shared record of a tenancy, from finding a tenant to the deposit refund, confirmed by both sides.
1. Find a tenant (optional)
- The owner creates a vacancy and shares its private link with people interested in the home, on WhatsApp or in their own posts. Rentally doesn't list or advertise it.
- Anyone with the link sees the home and the owner's verified history. Never the address.
- Interested people log in and say so, choosing whether to share their own history and phone number.
- The owner offers the home to one person. When they accept, the tenancy is created with the terms filled in.
2. Agree the tenancy
- Either side creates the tenancy and invites the other with a link, or it comes from a vacancy.
- You agree the terms together: rent, deposit, notice, fittings and any clauses. Every version is kept.
- Preview the agreement PDF, then stamp and sign it on paper yourselves (Rentally doesn't stamp, notarise or register agreements yet), record that you've signed and upload the signed copy.
- Already signed an agreement offline? Upload it and both confirm it instead.
3. Run it here
- Rent and bills: pay by UPI straight to the other person, mark it paid, and they confirm.
- Repairs with photos, a move-in checklist, reminders and updates by email and in the app.
- Ask the AI assistant about your agreement and records: key dates and amounts, or what changed in the terms. Owners can ask about all their homes at once.
4. Move out and build your history
- Give notice, compare the home with move-in, settle the deposit item by item.
- Each of you answers a few structured questions. Answers are revealed only when both have answered.
- What you both confirm becomes your rental history, which you can share when you next rent.

Questions
Basics
What is Rentally, and what does it cost?
A shared record of a tenancy for owners and tenants, not a listings site: homes aren't listed, advertised or searchable. It's free, and we never hold your money: rent, bills and deposits go straight between you by UPI.
Which cities is Rentally in?
Hyderabad today. Bangalore is next.
Profiles and privacy
What does "verified" mean?
Something both the owner and the tenant confirmed in the app, such as a rent payment or a deposit refund. Things only one side said, or that were filled in for past months before both joined, are marked self-declared and don't count as verified.
Who sees my history, and what's never shown?
Only the other person on each of your tenancies, people you send your share link to, people who look up your exact phone number or email (only if you allow it), and people who open your vacancy link. You can see who viewed it. There's no name search and no public list. Your phone number, email, exact address, ID numbers and the details of any dispute are never shown.
How do reviews work?
There's no free text. When a tenancy that was active on Rentally for 3 months or more is completed, each of you answers a few fixed questions within 14 days; some, like whether the deposit was returned, come straight from your records. Neither sees the other's answers until both have answered or the 14 days are up, and facts you answered differently show as disputed. Others see opinions about a person only once they have reviews from 2 or more tenancies; you always see what was said about you. If one of you doesn't confirm the move-out, the tenancy completes on its own 14 days after the move-out date.
Finding a home
What does a vacancy link show, and who can see it?
Anyone with the link can look, without logging in: the home's area (never the exact address), rent, deposit, availability, furnishing, fittings and photos, plus a short summary of the owner's history. Log in (with a code to your phone or email) to see the owner's full history or to say you're interested.
Agreements
Is the agreement valid, and does Rentally stamp or register it?
Rentally prepares the agreement from a standard template with the terms you both agreed, and keeps the signed copy. It takes legal effect once you sign it on stamp paper of the right value (or e-stamp), with witnesses. Rentally doesn't stamp, notarise or register it: you do that yourselves, and an agreement of 12 months or more must be registered at the Sub-Registrar office. Rentally isn't a lawyer, so take legal advice if you're unsure.
Does the AI assistant give legal advice?
No. It explains what your own agreement and records say, works out dates and amounts from your terms, says clearly when the agreement doesn't cover something, and suggests a lawyer for disputes.
Day to day
What if we disagree about something?
Either of you can dispute a rent month or a bill, the tenant can dispute a deposit deduction or reopen a repair, and review facts you answered differently show as disputed. Rentally records both sides, keeps disputed items out of verified counts and lists them on the tenancy's Disputes page, but never decides who is right. Try to settle it between yourselves, and talk to a lawyer if you can't.
Tenancy dates: earlier starts and overlaps
You can add a tenancy that started on or after 1 Jan 2026. Rent records go back at most 6 months, and months before it became active on Rentally stay self-declared until both of you confirm them. One that had already ended before it became active on Rentally can't be reviewed; one still running can be once completed, if it was active on Rentally for 3 months or more. You can't rent two homes at once beyond one month of overlap for moving: give notice on your current home first.
Your data
How do I download or delete my data?
In Profile & settings, under "Download or delete your data". Deleting is immediate once you have no unfinished tenancy. Records you share with someone (including the agreement as signed) stay with them for 3 years after the tenancy ends, showing "Deleted" instead of your name, then they are deleted.
